Our Story

Mildred and Roy Blocher purchased the 250-acre farm in 1942, naming it “Milroy” by combining their first names. Most of the original tract was covered with groves of maple trees, so it had an operating sugar camp. The Blocher’s continued maple production just as Mildred’s grandfather, William Wagner, began producing maple syrup in the late 1800s, making Mildred a third generation producer.

In 1955, the original sugar house was replaced with a new one to accommodate a larger, more efficient processing system. In 1968, a kitchen and sales room was added to facilitate prep and packaging. Over the years, both the sugar house and kitchen have been upgraded. The sugar house has been expanded to handle increased production. By the 1980s, the farm encompassed 450 acres.

Today, Mildred and Roy’s grandson, Jason, his wife Melissa, along with a staff of family and friends, operate the farm, making Jason a fifth generation producer. Milroy Farms now has over 14,000 taps, making it one of the larger maple producers in Somerset County, the leading maple-producing county in Pennsylvania!
